On 11 November 2010, Melchior Wathelet, acting Belgian State Secretary for the Budget, Migration and Asylum Policy, Family Policy and Federal Cultural Institutions, chaired the 3044th meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs in Brussels, in the presence of Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the EC in charge of Financial Programming and Budget. They gave a common press conference after the meeting. Despite substantial progress on the figures for the EU budget for 2011, the Council and the European Parliament, meeting within the Conciliation Committee, did not reach an overall agreement on the EU budget for 2011 and the other elements of the negotiation package.
