Extracts from the joint press briefing by José Manuel Barroso and Gjorge Ivanov, President of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
On 9 September 2010, after their meeting in Brussels, Gjorge Ivanov, President of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, held a joint press briefing on the country's process accession. José Manuel Barroso highlighted the need to consolidate the internal reforms but recognized the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia's progresses on the road to EU integration.
The presidents also raised the issue of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia's name dispute with Greece. José Manuel Barroso called all sides to resolve this obstacle as quickly as possible. As President Ivanov underlined improvements in the Greek/former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia relationship, and the restoration of the trust between the two leaders, the two countries and the cooperation between the two societies.
