EU/Ukraine Cooperation Council: round table and extracts from the common press conference by Catherine Ashton, Mykola Azarov and Miguel Ángel Moratinos
On 15/06/2010 in Luxembourg, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, and Mykola Azarov, Ukrainian Prime Minister, held the common press conference on EU/Ukraine Cooperation Council, after which Mykola Azarov and Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, met.
The EU was seeking an increasingly close relationship with Ukraine, going beyond more bilateral cooperation, to gradual economic integration, and a deepening of political cooperation.
Ukraine was a priority partner country within the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) which entered into force in 1998, and provided a comprehensive and ambitious framework for cooperation between the EU and Ukraine, in all key areas of reform.
