Extracts from the joint press briefing by Andris Piebalgs and Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation
On 11 May 2010, Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, met Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation, at the 10th EU/South Africa Ministerial Political Dialogue in Brussels. They exchanged views on current political and economic climate in the European Union and South Africa, Africa/EU relations.
During the joint press briefing, Andris Piebalgs described South Africa as an emerging power, and one of the strongest global partnerships for the European Union. And Maite Nkoana-Mashabane welcomed the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, which will bring more and better coordination in the relationship between the EU and South Africa.
