On 17 February 2010, Irina Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), met José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, for a courtesy visit in Brussels. She was accompanied by her Head of Cabinet, Philippe Kridelka, ex Belgian Ambassador to UNESCO and Lawrence Argimon- Pistre, Head of EU Delegation to UNESCO in Paris. Irina Bokova has expressed strong interest in strengthening the cooperation and dialogue with the EU.
