On 9 November 2009, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Brussels, to prepare the World Summit on Food Security, due to take place on 16-18 November 2009 in Rome. The Rome Summit will be devoted to issues of food security and will include debates on how to minimise the negative impact of the economic and financial crisis, and how to face agriculture challenges in the framework of climate change.
