The 13th EU/African Union Ministerial Troika took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 14 October 2009.
Senior officials and Ministers from both continents and from the European Commission took part in the discussions on the Strategic Partnership between Africa and the EU.
Karel de Gucht, Member of the EC in charge of Development and Humanitarian Aid, took part in the meeting during which a wide range of issues were addressed, ranging from global challenges, such as the financial and economic crisis and climate change, to political and legal issues, including threats to peace and security, elections and the fight against impunity.
On 15 October, Karel de Gucht expressed himself on a possible extraction deal between China and the Republic of Guinea and the challenges of such an investment in regard of the unstable political situation. He also repeated the condemnations of violence and the brutal acts which took place in Conakry during the repression of an anti-government protest on 28 September 2009. SHOTLISTLINKLINK
