Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council, 2949th meeting: extracts from the joint press conference by Vladimír Tošovský, Czech Minister for Industry and Trade and President in office of the Council, and Viviane Reding on Telecommunications
The 2949th meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council was held on 11-12 June in Luxembourg. On the second day of discussions Ministers exchanged their views on the Europe’s network and information security policy. The Council’s agenda also included an item on the Internet of Things – An action plan for Europe.
The main point on the agenda was the discussion on the future of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and on the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP).
The European Commission informed of the upcoming action plan for the Internet of Things which allows for the development of new information services. The European Commission also presented information on the current state of the governance of the internet and on the upcoming changes in this sector. It primarily focused on the domain name protection and the role of the governments in the internet governance.
After the closing of the formal agenda an informal discussion on the future of the Telecommunications Package took place.
