Visit of Amadou Toumani Touré, President of Mali, to Louis Michel and press briefing
Amadou Toumani Touré, President of Mali, visited Louis Michel, Member of the EC in charge of Development and Humanitarian Aid, to analyse the development partnership EU/Mali, the security situation in the North of the country, and the impact of the crisis in the developing countries.
Louis Michel said that the G20 must work to reduce the ditch between the 20 major economies and the rest of the world. He added that the meeting in London is a historic opportunity to reorganise globalisation and to make it more democratic. He supported the efforts made by the Malian government to maintain peace in the respect of the territorial integrity and the national unit of Mali and hoped that a negotiated solution could also emerge in Niger.
In relation with the European hostages, Amadou Toumani Touré said that they seem to go very well and explained that the authorities in Mali are working on the ground to release these women and men and to help them to go back home. SHOTLIST
