The European Commission wants to promote concrete measures to develop and strengthen co-operation between higher education and business and to support Member States' efforts in this direction. In particular, the Commission presented plans how the University-Business Forum, an event already held in 2008 and 2009, could be formalised as a European platform for dialogue between the worlds of higher education and business. In addition to continuing this dialogue, the Commission proposed to explore how new forms of structured partnerships between business and universities could develop and deliver educational courses and how the EU's programmes could be used in support of this.
