Visit of Li Shenglin, Chinese Minister for Transport, to Antonio Tajani
Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Transport, met with Li Shenglin, Chinese Minister for Transport, on 31 March 2009 in Brussels on the occasion of the signing of the agreement on the EU/China maritime protocol, extending it to Romania and Bulgaria.
During the constructive and cordial meeting, the two exchanged views on all items related to transport. Specifically they discussed the possibility to cooperate on technology, with specific attention to environmental aspects, where China has signalled its willingness for reinforced cooperation with the European Union. Antonio Tajani and Li Shenglin also discussed the EU's and China's role in the development of transport and infrastructure on the African continent. They also agreed on the need to establish joint actions to fight against piracy. At the end of the meeting, the two shared their views on the respective strategies to combat the current economic crisis. PHOTOSHOTLIST
