The European Commission gives its support to the position of the Government of the UK in relation with the refineries of the UK strike due to the arrival of foreign workers. Johannes Laitenberger, spokesperson of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, says that the Commission can understand the fears of the workers, but protests against the hiring of workers from other Member States are not the good reaction. He adds that the internal market is the best platform to maintain a high level of employment in the European Union.
