José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and a number of Commissioners, met with Wen Jiabao, Chinese Prime Minister, and several of his Ministers on 30 January 2009 in Brussels.
This second meeting between the European Commission and the Chinese Government focused mainly on the economic and financial crisis, its social impact and ongoing efforts to provide global responses, in particular the preparation of the G20 Summit set to take place in London in April. The fight against climate change loomed large in the discussions. A wide range of other issues were also addressed, ranging from international relations through civil aviation, clean energy, education to research cooperation.
The Commission and the Chinese Government first met in April 2008 in Beijing. SHOTLISTLINK
