The Czech Presidency organised an informal meeting of Ministers for Justice and Home Affairs on 15 and 16 January 2009 in Prague. On 16 January, the Ministers in charge of Justice met under the chairmanship of Jiří Pospíšil, Czech Minister for Justice and President in office of the Council. They addressed issues such as the principle of mutual recognition in criminal matters and the future of family law. Jiří Pospíšil held a joint press conference with Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Freedom and Security, Beatrice Ask, Swedish Minister for Justice, and Jérôme Deroulez, technical advisor to the French Minister for Justice, after the meeting.
