Visit of David Choquehuanca Céspedes, Bolivian Minister for External Relations and Worship, to Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and signature of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation
David Choquehuanca Céspedes, Bolivian Minister for External Relations and Worship, visited Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, on 10 December 2008 in Brussels, to discuss a range of significant bilateral issues as well as EU/Andean Community relations.
During the visit, Benita Ferrero-Waldner and David Choquehuanca Céspedes signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Community cooperation with Bolivia for the period 2007 to 2013, which has an allocation of 234 million Euros. This cooperation will focus on the creation of sustainable economic opportunities for decent work, the fight against illicit drug production and trafficking by means of comprehensive development to tackle poverty and enhance social cohesion, and the sustainable management of natural resources, in particular through support for the integrated management of national and international river basins.
Benita Ferrero-Waldner announced that Europe would send a mission of observers to Bolivia for the referendum of 25 January 2009. SHOTLIST
