Andrius Kubilius, Lithuanian Prime Minister, visited José Manuel Barroso on 10 December 2008 in Brussels.
José Manuel Barroso congratulated Andrius Kubilius for his recent appointment as Prime Minister.
They discussed several issues, among them, the financial crisis and the recovery plan for Lithuania. The Commission will provide financial assistance to Lithuania. The country has a need as well to address structural reforms in order to correct imbalances, given the Lithuanian situation with domestic and external demand problems.
Other topics discussed during the meeting included relations with Russia, energy security, the climate change and energy package, the Lisbon Treaty, and the new proposed ENP-Eastern Partnership. SHOTLIST
