Borut Pahor, newly-appointed Slovenian Prime Minister, made his first visit abroad to Brussels on 2 December 2008 for talks with José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC. The talks were to focus on the upcoming EU Summit and the economic crisis mainly. On 7 November 2008, the Slovenian Parliament elected Borut Pahor, leader of the centre-left Social Democrat Party, to a four-year term as Prime Minister.
