The European Commission reacted to the Fortis crisis and the cash injection by Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in exchange of a 49 percent stake. Jonathan Todd, Spokesperson of Neelie Kroes, Member of the EC in charge of Competition, said that, by the time being, there are no elements for state aid, and he added that the EC will study the accompaniment measures in the future and if there were elements of aid state then the Commission would adopt a position very rapidly.
