Rights & Solidarity to guide globalization, a response to the financial crisis: extracts from the press conference by the European Economic and Social Committee

Mario Sepi, the newly-elected President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), hold a press conference where he said that Europe must avoid a recession by investing. "We need to encourage long-term investment where necessary by giving high quality targeted state aid otherwise we will not get out of the financial crisis", he told journalists after having presented the priorities of his new mandate. Irini Pari, one of his newly-elected Vice-President and future President of the EESC Communication group, added that the 27 Member States of the EU would need the Lisbon Strategy after 2010 to keep the real economy going on, creating growth and jobs, boosting innovation and creativity.
