Competitiveness/European Space Agency (ESA) joint Ministerial Council: extarcts from the joint press conference by Valérie Pécresse, Maria van der Hoeven, Günter Verheugen and Jean-Jacques Dordain
Ministers in charge of space activities within ESA and Member States of the EU met in Brussels on 26/09/2008 for the fifth Space Council.
They adopted a resolution highlighting the advances made in the implementation of the European Spacial policy, reaffirming Europe's priorities with regards to Galileo and Kopernikus and underlining its desire for new initiatives, especially on the issues of climate change and security. They also asked for stable financial support for these projects.
Valérie Pécresse, French Minister for Higher Education and Research and President in office of the Council of the EU, Maria van der Hoeven, Dutch Minister for Economic Affairs and President in office of the ESA Council, Günter Verheugen, Vice President of the EC in charge for Enterprise and Industry, and Jean-Jacques Dordain, Executive Director of the ESA gave a joint press conference after the meeting.
