Visit of Faustin Archange Touadera, Prime Minister of the Central African Republic, to Louis Michel
Faustin Archange Touadera, Prime Minister of the Central African Republic, was in Brussels on 15 July 2008 for talks with Louis Michel, Member of the EC in charge of Development and Humanitarian Aid. They discussed the recent political developments in the country and the assistance of the European Union to help solve the severe humanitarian crisis, as well as the return of refugees, following years of guerrilla war in the poor former French colony that borders with Sudan and Chad. Central African Republic's two main rebel movements signed a peace deal with the government in June. The deal calls for the disarmament and demobilization of rebel fighters and the start of a campaign to reintegrate them into civilian life.
An international committee composed of delegates from other Central African States as well as the European Union is supposed to monitor the accord. PHOTOSHOTLIST
