Brussels Tax Forum 2008: extracts from the joint press conference by Christine Lagarde, French Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, and László Kovács
Following the opening session of the Brussels Tax Forum 2008, Christine Lagarde, French Minister for Economy, Industry and Employment, and László Kovács, Member of the EC in charge of Taxation and Customs Union, gave a joint press conference.
Christine Lagarde indicated that France, during its six months presidency of the EU, will be pushing for an agreement on the common consolidated corporate tax.
She also told that France and the UK would be very much in favour of making significant progress on green taxation. The two countries made a proposal to promote at the EU level environment-friendly and energy saving materials, products and appliances.
László Kovács said that he was happy that during the French presidency there will be some intensive discussion on the issue of green tax. SHOTLIST
