Following the meeting between the EU Troika and Afghanistan leaders in Brdo, Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Afghan Minister for Foreign Affairs, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenian Minister for Foreign Affairs and President in office of the Council, and Fransesc Vendrell, EU Special Representative for Afghanistan, gave a joint press conference.
Benita Ferrero-Waldner called for greater coordination between Western states in Afghanistan and more coordination with the Afghan government.
The EU/Afghanistan ministerial meeting reviewed the political and security situation in Afghanistan, discussed relations between the EU and Afghanistan, assessed implementation of the Afghanistan Agreement and the fight against illicit drugs, and addressed the situation in the region. SHOTLIST
