Visit of Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukrainian Prime Minister, to José Manuel Barroso, and extracts of the Joint Press briefing
Visiting the European institutions, Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukrainian recently re-elected Prime Minister, met with José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC.
They discussed the country's reforms towards closer ties with the European Union, Ukraine's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), its relations with neighbouring countries, and energy policy (including the Nabucco gas pipeline project).
At a joint press briefing, the President of the European Commission, said energy diversification is important and the EU is working with Ukraine to make the country consolidated as it is a very important also transit country for oil and gas.
The newly-elected Ukrainian Prime Minister told journalists that Ukraine, as far as country of gas transit with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, does not need any shadow intermediary, pointing Russia. PHOTOSHOTLIST
