Visit of Andrew Harrison, Chief Executive of EasyJet, to Jacques Barrot

Andrew Harrison, Chief Executive of EasyJet, visited Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Transport. They discussed the current European aviation agenda, including talks on aviation security and safety, passengers' rights and the Single European Sky, as well as on the environmental impacts of air traffic. In September 2007, the budget airline EasyJet announced its support for a green tax on air travel. The carrier said air passenger duty should be scrapped and replaced with a tax based on the amount of carbon dioxide produced on each flight. According to EasyJet, such a tax would mean EasyJet passengers would pay less than they do with passenger duty.
