On 10 March 2016, Violeta Bulc, Member of the EC in charge of Transport, and Karmenu Vella, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries participated in a Citizens' Dialogue in Ljubljana. The discussion focused on how to turn environmental challenges into economic opportunities, in particular through the circular economy. They were joined by Erika Oblak, Zero waste programme coordinator in the Ekologi brez meja (Ecologists without borders EcoWB) association, and Ales Dolenc, Director of a Slovene company called MSora, on stage. The lively discussion touched upon various aspects of how the transition to a circular economy, including the new approach to transport, can boost economic growth and increase competitiveness in the EU Member States. Both Commissioners stressed the availability of funds for smart and innovative investments through the European Fund for Strategic Investment and other EU funds. They encouraged participants to get involved. The end of the video shows Karmenu Vella and Zoran Stančič, Head of Representation of the EC in Slovenia walking in the street in Ljubljana.
