Extracts from the replies by Jean-Claude Juncker following the State of the Union Address 2015

On 9 September 2015, Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the EC, delivered his first State of the Union Address 2015 "Time for Honesty, Unity and Solidarity" at the plenary session of the EP in Strasbourg, chaired by Martin Schulz, President of the EP. In his speech, the President outlined his political vision for the future of the EU and he set out the main elements that would guide the preparation of the European Commission's Work Programme for 2016 and beyond. The following key points were addressed: the refugee crisis: the imperative to act as a Union; a new start for Greece, for the euro area and for the European economy; a fair deal for the United Kingdom; united alongside Ukraine; united in leadership in addressing climate change. The speech by Jean-Claude Juncker was followed by a plenary debate. Jean-Claude Juncker and Martin Schulz then gave a joint press conference.
