José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the 105th plenary session of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) with Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, President of the CoR. José Manuel Barroso made the speech "Make a commitment to Europe" on this occasion.
He notably recalled that Regional leaders were European leaders and that Cohesion Policy was a policy for the entire European Union, a win-win policy that reflected the spirit of European values which were a source of inspiration for millions of people around the world, starting with the closest neighbours countries in the east and south.
José Manuel Barroso then called to show solidarity for the Ukrainian people and especially for young Ukrainians who wanted a European destiny for their country. The President eventually emphasized that the recovery was in sight in Europe, and that confidence was coming back from investors and consumers, but it remained fragile and needed to be supported.
