On 6 December 2013, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, had a bilateral meeting with Macky Sall, President of Senegal. José Manuel Barroso and Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, also met with Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations. These meetings took place in the margins of the Elysée Summit for Peace and Security in Africa, in Paris.
