On 4 November 2013, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, went to Jakarta were she met with Marty Natalegawa, Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Le Luong Minh, Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Catherine Ashton marked an important moment in the longstanding EU/ASEAN relations with a first-ever visit to the ASEAN Secretariat. This visit also aimed at strengthening and deepening the EU/ASEAN partnership.
