Visit of Catherine Ashton to Cairo: 02/10/2013

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, visited Egypt on 2 and 3 October 2013. On 2 October, in Cairo, she met with Nabil Fahmi, Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Amr Moussa, President of the "Committee of 50" (Egyptian Constituent Assembly), and with Ahmed Mohamed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Mosque. During her visit, Catherine Ashton conveyed the message that violence should stop and that it was for all Egyptians to solve the country's political crisis in an inclusive manner.
