Visit of Andriy Klyuyev, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, to Štefan Füle
On 27 August 2013, Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, received the visit of Andriy Klyuyev, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, in Brussels.
The two men discussed the European integration process of Ukraine and the road to signing an Association Agreement including on trade, despite a threat by Russia's President, Vladimir Putin of possible retaliatory measures. As Ukraine became a member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in May 2008, negotiations on the establishment of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) could be launched, as an integral part of the Association Agreement.
