The EU/South Korea Free Trade Agreement, in force since July 2011, is the EU's first trade deal with an Asian country. The Agreement went further than ever before at lifting trade barriers and making it easier for European and South Korean companies to do business together. It eliminates tariffs for industrial and agricultural goods in a progressive, step-by-step approach. The agreement also addresses non-tariff barriers to trade and includes provisions on issues ranging from services and investments, competition, government procurement, intellectual property rights, transparency in regulation to sustainable development.
