Foreign Affairs Council, 3250 meeting: extracts from the press conference by Catherine Ashton
On 24 June 2013, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, gave a press conference in Luxembourg in the framework of the Foreign Affairs Council.
On the same date, the European Ministers in charge of Foreign Affairs convened to discuss a coordinated response to the crisis in Syria, focusing on the search for a political solution; humanitarian needs in the country and its neighbours; and security risks to Europe.
Other issues included the Middle East and efforts by John Kerry US Secretary of State, to revive the peace process there, as well as preparations for a November summit on the EU‘s Eastern Partnership with six countries including Ukraine. SHOTLISTLINK
