Giving of the FAO's award for work in food security to José Manuel Barroso on behalf of the EU
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Rome, where he received on behalf of the EU the "Jacques Diouf" Award of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), from the hands of José Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the FAO. The award was given in recognition of the pioneering work of the EU's Food Facility programme, which had so far improved the lives of more than 59 million people in 50 countries.
