On 10 June 2013, Tonio Borg, Member of the EC in charge of Health and Consumer Policy, attended in Brussels the 'spirometry morning' where a team of health professionals offered the possibility to assess breathing capacity. Spirometry tests are easy and quick to undertake. They are part of the diagnosis of respiratory diseases and testing lung capacity which take 10 minutes. Spirometry is a simple way to find out if lungs or airways are obstructed in any way because of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) or asthma or other conditions that affect breathing.
