Visit of Algirdas Butkevičius, Lithuanian Prime Minister, to José Manuel Barroso: extracts from the joint press conference

On 24 April 2013, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Algirdas Butkevičius, Lithuanian Prime Minister, held a joint press briefing after the European Commission College received the Lithuanian Government. The leaders presented the main priorities of the Lithuanian Government that will take the rotating Presidency of the EU Council in July. The main challenges will be to bring back the confidence in the EU markets, implement the Compact for Growth and Jobs, the construction of the banking union, and complete the EU internal energy market. Lithuania will direct its forces to the management of the economy and the implementation of the EU fiscal treaty.
