On 11 April 2013, Dacian Cioloş, Member of the EC in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, gave a press conference to announce that the Head of States and government confirmed the importance of the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2013. After a wide-ranging public debate the Commission presented a document which outlines options for the future CAP and launched the debate with the other institutions and with stakeholders. Following a debate in the European Parliament and the Council, the approval of the different regulations and implementing acts is expected by the end of 2013, with a view to having the CAP reform in place as from 1 January 2014.
