José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Alenka Bratušek, Slovenian Prime Minister. It was her first official visit abroad since taking office in March 2013. The two leaders had very open, constructive discussions about the situation of Slovenia. The country was facing a very demanding task: not only setting up and launching the necessary reforms but also building the indispensable national consensus regarding the need for these reforms.
José Manuel Barroso expressed his admiration for the Prime Minister's determination to strengthen the economy of Slovenia and his confidence that the country would rise to the challenge. He concluded by saying that the EC would continue to support the efforts of the country and do its utmost to assist Slovenia and to work with the country in the spirit of open and constructive partnership..
