Visit of Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister, to José Manuel Barroso
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister. Discussions focused on the European Council of 07-08/02/2013, negotiations on the EU multiannual budget, and last developments in relations between the EC and Hungary.
During the joint press conference the President reiterated that the EU's budget was very much part of Europe's overall strategy to deal with the economic crisis and that it was a crucial instrument for growth, investment and solidarity. José Manuel Barroso then particularly commended the Hungarian authorities for their swift response to the judgement of the European Court of Justice on the retirement age of judges.
