How can the private sector drive development progress?
On 16 and 17 October Brussels (Belgium) will host the 7th edition of the European Development Days (#EDD12). ‘Engaging the Private Sector for Development’ is one of the three sub-themes of EDD12 and a relatively new but promising concept in the development world. A healthy, vibrant and competitive private sector is a key to growth and reducing poverty. Moreover, effectively engaging businesses as development partners could create jobs, income opportunities for the poor, and leverage additional funding for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Organised by the European Commission, the EDD is Europe’s premier forum on international affairs and development cooperation. The EDD is a policy-making laboratory for practitioners from the field and decision-makers to share their experience and generate new ideas. The forum is a truly collaborative platform where everybody has a say.
You can also join the debate on the headline theme of EDD12: ‘Supporting Inclusive and Sustainable Growth for Human Development’. We look forward to receiving your views and questions!
