Le 3 octobre 21012, Andris Piebalgs, membre de la CE chargé du Développement, et Kristalina Georgieva, membre de la CE chargée de la Coopération internationale, de l'Aide humanitaire et de la Réaction aux crises, ont diffusé un message conjoint où ils proposent une nouvelle politique pour aider les communautés vulnérables des quatre coins de la planète à renforcer leur résilience face aux crises futures. Dans cette nouvelle communication, intitulée «L’approche de l’UE sur la résilience: tirer les leçons des crises de sécurité alimentaire», la Commission tire les enseignements de la réaction aux crises alimentaires récentes et expose les mesures qui permettront à l’Union européenne d’aider les populations vulnérables à réduire les incidences des crises et des catastrophes à venir.
