José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Najib Mikati, Lebanese Prime Minister. During the joint press conference the President announced that the EU was allocating an additional contribution of € 30 million in the framework of the SPRING (Support for Partnership, Reform and Inclusive Growth) instrument to support the deepening of Lebanese democracy. This would come on top of the allocation of the year 2012 to Lebanon of € 62 million. The message sent was clear: the EU stood by Lebanon.
