European Development Days 2011 with the participation of José Manuel Barroso

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, participated in the European Development Days (EDDs) 2011 which focused on the Arab Spring events of 2011.
The fact that this year's event was taking place in Warsaw was particularly pertinent. The key theme of European Development Days was the link between development and democracy. Organized for the first time in a country from Central and Eastern Europe and in the context of the political changes in the Arab World, the 2011 edition brought together key players from both regions. This was an opportunity to discuss the transition experience of Poland and other Central and Eastern Europe countries and also to explore the ways to best use this knowledge in different political environments, such as Arab Countries.
