Jean Monnet Conference on Higher Education with the participation of José Manuel Barroso

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the Jean Monnet Conference where the main theme was "Higher Education in the Framework of the Europe 2020 Strategy". He made a speech entitled "European higher education - an engine for growth and jobs" on this occasion.
In his speech the President said that Education, Research and Innovation were at the very heart of the Europe 2020 strategy, the European blueprint to get the economy back on track over the course of the decade. He highlighted that it was now it was necessary to take the right decisions and implement the reforms to enhance the capacities in education, research and innovation. These were keys to addressing major economic and social challenges.
