Visit of José Manuel Barroso to Sofia

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Sofia where he met with Boyko Borissov, Bulgarian Prime Minister. The President stressed that he hoped to get agreement at the European Council of 23/10/2011 on decisive action on comprehensive crisis response. He reiterated the EC unequivocal support for Bulgaria joining the Schengen area and encouraged the Prime Minister to continue the reform efforts in the areas of judicial reform, the fight against corruption and organised crime. José Manuel Barroso also praised the high levels of support for the EU in Bulgaria.
