EU/South Africa Summit with the participation of José Manuel Barroso
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, participated in the EU/South Africa Summit with Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa.
José Manuel Barroso described the Summit as a testimony of the excellent relations between the EU and South Africa. During this event, bilateral issues and matters of global relevance, like the next G20 Summit and the fight against climate change, were discussed.
The President highlighted that they had been able to tackle issues of common interest in a spirit of friendship and mutual understanding, while continuing to deepen and broaden as well their cooperation.
