José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Auckland where he received the degree of Docteur Honoris Causa from the University of Auckland from the hands of Roger France, Chancellor of the University of Auckland. The President then gave a lecture entitled "The EU – a committed partner for New Zealand and the Pacific".
