José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Auckland to meet with John Key, New Zealander Prime Minister, and Jerry Mateparae, Governor-General of New Zealand.
He then made a keynote address to the 40th Pacific Islands Forum to talk about €26 million in new funding to combat climate change and promote development. The President urged a united stance between the EU and the Pacific in global climate change negotiations and highlighted that it was necessary to continue to maintain pressure on all global partners in Durban.
