On 19 July 2011, the 27 EU Ministers in charge of Agriculture held a follow up meeting in Brussels on the E. coli crisis and its impact on the farming sector. At the same time, the European Commission launched a promotion campaign to encourage the consumption of vegetables.
In recent weeks, this crisis forced farmers to dump perfectly good vegetables unsold. To help producers get through this difficult period, the European Commission has made 210 million euro available for emergency funding. However, the solution can only come from consumers when they will go back to eating fruits and vegetables in their daily diet. SHOTLIST
